Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Soldiers Group

Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot including divine entities, fiends, and dark forces expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, apart from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for players who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer the cleric might seem out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

First, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise started the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.

The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a secure base in the remote area, above the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and cautions that it is a hostile location.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their status as prominent individuals in the powerful family could enable the group enter locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for the antagonist.

Future Episodes

According to the latest episode’s post-show segment, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.

Fans can look forward to discovering which characters will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
